What exactly is RetailBets?
RetailBets is a technology platform that “tokenizes” real-world stocks from the Victoria Falls Stock Exchange (VFEX). We take traditional shares and represent them as digital tokens on the Polygon blockchain, allowing for 24/7 trading, fractional ownership, and instant settlement.
How do I deposit to RetailBets?
You can deposit to RetailBets using Ecocash or InnBucks. Your deposit is processed instantly as soon as the transaction is successful. Feel free to contact our support team at help@retailbets.com if your transaction was not processed or you have any queries.
What does “Tokenization” mean for me?
Think of a token as a digital certificate of ownership. Instead of waiting days for paperwork to clear, tokenization allows you to own and trade assets with the same ease as sending a text message, while still being backed by the legal economic value of the actual share.
Is this legal in Zimbabwe?
Virtual Tokens and Virtual Assets Service Providers are now regulated in Zimbabwe through the Securities and Exchanges Act as amended by the Finance Act of 2025. We are, however, currently operating in a Pilot Phase and are actively engaging with relevant regulatory bodies, including the Securities and Exchange Commission of Zimbabwe (SECZIM), to ensure our framework aligns with the evolving digital asset landscape and capital market regulations.
What happens if RetailBets goes out of business?
Because the underlying shares are held by an independent 3rd-party custodian and not by RetailBets itself, the legal economic ownership remains with the token holders. The blockchain provides an immutable record of who owns what, which can be used to verify claims. The shares are shielded from the company operating RetailBets, Procode Platform’s liabilities meaning the shares are safe.
Why do I need to be “Whitelisted”?
To comply with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) laws, only verified users can hold RetailBets tokens. Our smart contracts are designed to block any transfer to a wallet address that has not completed our KYC (Know Your Customer) process.
Which blockchain do you use?
We use the Polygon Network. We chose Polygon because it offers the security of the Ethereum blockchain but with significantly faster transaction speeds and much lower “gas” (transaction) fees, which is essential for retail investors.
Do I receive dividends?
es. Since the tokens represent the economic ownership of the shares, any dividends declared by the company on the VFEX will be collected by the custodian and distributed proportionally to the token holders’ accounts.
